You’re standing in line with your best friend, waiting to enter Kemper
Arena to hear Enrique Iglesias in concert. As you give your tickets to
the usher at the door, he reminds you to hang onto your ticket stubs,
since there will be a drawing at the end of the concert for a special
prize. You and your friend stuff your ticket stubs into your pockets and
forget about them.
Even though you weren’t too crazy about Enrique Iglesias’ music before
now, you find that you are changing your mind as you listen to this
young Spaniard sing. As the end of the concert approaches, you even find
yourself planning to buy some of his CD’s. Enrique ends his 90 minute
performance with his chart breaking hit "Bailamos".

As the crowd breaks
into a thunderous applause, Enrique says he has a special announcement
to make. He continues “Your dedication and support have made me who I am
today.” “And, to show you how thankful I am, I am going to draw the name
of one lucky fan tonight who will win a one week, all expense paid trip
for two to Spain!” “ You’ll also receive $8,000 cash as spending money,
and two free tickets to see me in concert in Madrid, in which I’ll
perform 5 songs selected by you!”
As you and your best friend pull your ticket stubs out of your
pockets, a hush falls over the crowd when Enrique calls out the lucky
number. You sit and stare at the number on your ticket stub in
disbelief! Enrique repeats the lucky number, which matches yours
exactly! As your friend shouts for joy, you are filled with excitement,
shock, and panic. You’ve never been outside of Missouri before, let
alone traveling to some foreign country!

The next morning when you check your e-mail, you find a message from
Enrique asking you do some research on Spain. As you make your travel plans,
there is some information that he thinks you should look up on the internet
before leaving.
After learning all you’ll need to know to finalize your travel plans,
Enrique would like you to send him a report on your findings. Here are the specifics of what he would like you to
include in your report to him:
1. Find out what you need to do to get your passport.
2. Do some research on Spain, and decide on the 3 cities you want to visit
3. Contact at least two airlines and find out the price of purchasing two
round trip tickets from Pittsburgh, to Madrid, Spain. What is the name of
the airport in Madrid?
4. Find out what Spain’s unit of currency is, and what its current exchange
rate is against the American dollar.
5. Find out the weather conditions at the time of your trip so you can pack
accordingly.
6. Find 3 modes of transportation used in the cities you want to visit.
7. Find three restaurants in each city you want to visit and what kind of
food they serve.
8. Find three locations to visit in each city you plan on visiting. These
could be museums, parks, churches, historical sites or other points of
interest. Write a brief description of each
place.
9. After doing some research on the music of Enrique Iglesias, choose 5 of
your favorite songs and include their titles in your report to Enrique so he
can be sure to include them in his concert performance that you and your
friend will be attending as his special guest during your visit to Spain.
Now you are off to Spain!
10. Write a Journal entry at least three paragraphs long (a
paragraph for each city), tell
about what you did in each city and what you ate.
11. Go to

http://news.yahoo.com/fc/World/Spain and report on two current events
taking place in Spain. Please give the title of the current event and
write a paragraph summarizing the article.
