indefinite articles

Indefinite articles

Un and una are called indefinite articles.  They are the equivalent of a/an in English.  Indefinite articles indicate an unspecified singular noun. i.e.  "A book is on the table."  (an unspecific book).  It is just any book, an unspecified, indefinite item.
In Spanish there are four indefinite articles.  They are un, una, unos, unas.  In Spanish the article will always precede the noun.
The indefinite articles have to agree in gender and number with the noun it modifies.
Use un with masculine, singular nouns.  Use una with feminine, singular nouns.

Unos and unas are called plural indefinite articles.  They are the equivalent of some or a few in English.  The indefinite articles, unos and unas, are used with plural nouns.  These plural, indefinite articles are used to indicate some or a few unspecific items, just more than one item of any kind.
When referring to a group of people that includes both males and females, unos (the masculine, plural form) is used.
