Ir a
with infinitives |
|
|
In English, we use "going" plus an infinitive to talk about the near future or what someone is or isn't going to do. We
use the correct present tense form of the verb
to be
followed by going to and
an infinitive. |

She
is
going to leave for
vacation. You are
going
to swim afterwards. I
am going
to watch for vacation.
|
|
|
Although this same form also can be used in Spanish, the actual
structure is not the same. The Spanish equivalent
does not use the present tense to be. Instead
it requires the present tense of
ir with
a followed by an
infinitive. |

When
talking about what you do on
a certain day or days, use el
and los. The
preposition in is
not translated.
On Tuesday
would be translated el martes.
The singular definite article,
el, is used to say
on
one particular day, while los,
the plural definite article, indicates that something is done
every
(day) . En is
never
used to state that something occurs on a certain day(s)
of the week. |

"Language is at the core of human existence. Through language we express
the hopes and dreams we hold for our families, our state and our nation.
The ability to communicate in a second language enables us to know the
hopes, dreams and visions of others around the world." |
