Pronouns

Pronouns take the place of nouns.

Pronouns can stand for the person talking, the person being talked to, or someone or something that has already been named.

Pronouns have different forms depending on how they are being used.  We have learned two types of pronouns: subject pronouns and indirect object pronouns.
Tú eres Felipe, ¿no?   ¿Te gusta jugar tenis?
Both and te are pronouns both refer to Felipe.  is a subject pronoun and te is a object pronoun.

Another type of pronouns is prepositional pronouns.  Prepositional pronouns follow prepositions.

Prepositions

A preposition is a word which is used before a noun or a pronoun to form a phrase which connects it to another word.

Examples of prepositions in English:  in, after, at, on, with, of, to, up, by, etc.

Examples of prepositions in Spanish:  a (to), de (of, from, about), con (with), and en (in, on, at)

Most of the pronouns used with prepositions in Spanish are the same as the subject pronouns, but they are different in the first- and second-person singular.

Conmigo and contigo: When used with con (usually translated as "with") the forms conmigo and contigo are used instead of con mí and con ti, respectively.
Examples: Voy contigo. ¿Vas conmigo? I'm going with you. Are you going with me?

When using gustar, to emphasize or clarify who is pleased, you can add the prepositional phrase a + prepositional pronoun, to ___.
Examples:  emphasis -  A mí me gusta jugar al fútbol.  (I like to play soccer.)

emphasis - A nos nos gusta jugar al fútbol.  (We like to play soccer.)
clarify - A ella no le gusta jugar al fútbol.  (She doesn't like to play soccer.)
clarify - A Leonardo no le gusta jugar al fútbol.  (Leonardo doesn't like to play soccer.)
