verbs -car, -zar, and -gar

Preterite of regular verbs (review)

Remember that the -er and -ir endings are the same. 
   - é - amos - í - imos - í - imos
- aste - asteis - iste - isteis - iste - isteis
- ó - aron - ió - ieron - ió - ieron
Verbs ending in - car, - gar, and - zar have spelling changes in the first person singular, yo form of the preterite.
  Spelling change allows the verbs to maintain their original pronunciation
  All other forms are regular.
  For verbs that end in -car, the c changes to qu in the first person.
    practicar Þ c Þ qu Þ practiqué
  For verbs that end in -gar, the c changes to gu in the first person.
    llegar Þ g Þ gu Þ llegué
  For verbs that end in -zar, the c changes to c in the first person.
    cruzar Þ z Þ c Þ cru

investigar
