Verbs followed by infinitives

 
  Spanish has some expressions, which are generally followed by an infinitive.
  Below are a list of some of those expressions followed by an example.
  tener que to have to

Tenemos que cenar ahora.

We have to eat now.
  tener ganas de to feel like

Ellos tienen ganas de volver a casa.

They feel like going home now.
  deber should, ought to

Debes de estudiar más.

You should study more.
  poder (ue) to be able to

Puedes limpiar el patio ahora.

You can clean the patio now.
  pensar (ie) to plan to

Piensan preparar el pastel.

The plan to make the cake.
  preferir (ie) to prefer, would rather

Sara prefiere leer.

Sara would rather read.
  querer (ie) to want

Quiero salir con mis amigos.

I want to go out with my friends.
  __ gusta __ like to ___.

Te gusta escuchar la música.

You like to listen to music.
