    ¿Cómo es ____ ? What is ___ like? Singular form:  Literally, How is ___?  This is the form to use when you are talking about one thing.  Es (it is) is used to talk about one thing. 
          ¿Cómo es el helado? What's ice cream like?  
          ¿Cómo es la fiesta? What is the party like?  

  what something is like:

    Es ___. It is ___. Singular form:   Es (it is) is used to talk about one thing or person. 

    ¿Cómo es el helado? What's ice cream like? El helado is masculine singular.
            Es delicioso.      It is delicious. Since  el helado is masculine singular, the adjective ends in -o.
            Es malo.      It's bad.. The adjective ends in -o, since it refers to el helado, which is masculine singular.
            Es horrible.      It's horrible.. The adjective ends in -e, since the adjective ends in -e, the masculine and feminine forms are the same.
    ¿Cómo es la fiesta? What's the ice cream like? La fiesta is feminine singular.
   

        Es divertida.

      It is fun.

The adjective ends in -a, since it refers to la fiesta, which is feminine singular.
   

        Es buena.

      It's good.

The adjective ends in -a, since it refers to la fiesta, which is feminine singular.
            Es horrible.      It's horrible. The adjective ends in -e, since the adjective ends in -e, the masculine and feminine forms are the same.
More adjectives can be added to all of these simple statements to make them more interesting.
   

        Es muy divertida y fenomenal.  

It is a lot of fun and awesome.
   

        Es bastante buena.

It's pretty good.
            Es algo horrible y pésimo. It's kind of horrible and awful.
